Reggae: Past, Present and Future

As a coordinator, I got an email from Boots Monday afternoon saying that the monthly ROTR staff meeting at the Mateel scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed. That is most curious, we have never postponed a meeting before, something is going to be resolved I hope...
I hope I didn't make the trip and blow off work for nothing.

First off, One Love to you all.

We should put the show away until 08. No more of this pressure to reconcile before the show. No more competition of who can have a better lineup. Its so confusing to the vibe of the music. This is ridiculous, cant every one see that?
The courts need to stand up here and take control instead of letting "Big humboldt business" call the shots. Cant they see the war? Is this the kind of vibe people want around here 4 months before "Unity" There are no winners in this one.

Mr T should refinance some more land and quit whining.
Carol, relax, it will be alright. I know how instrumental you are to reggae, despite what others say. Without you, there would be no ROTR.
Mateel, get it together. Its your festival, but you must retain it through business intelligence.

Skipping 2007 would not be wise. The festival audience would find something else to do in August, and it would be hard to get them back. Many local non profits would go under without the annual financial boost from the festival. Mateel needs to pull their head out of the sand, and face up to the fact that having a venue for the show is key. Owning the name is great, but having a spot to throw the party is crucial. Mateel may well be able to survive with Mateel Forever benefits 1, 2, 3, 4, etc... so they may not care if a reggae festival happens this year or not. The rest of us DO care! We have to do what ever it takes to have a show in August 2007. With Mateel, if possible... but without Mateel, if that's the way they want it.

you are so money oriented. I am not on pp side nor am i on mateels side. i am on the real peoples side.
Reggae isnt about competition, its about love...unity. The unity has been broken, and its unfortunate the fest has to suffer. I said before that there are no winners. Whoever "wins" will have a bitter other side. That other side is huge...its half the community.
Without being on anyones side, the Mateel owns ROTR and that weekend. Any one else is imitating, in this case imitating and using money to guide.
Do you think the world could forget about ROTR because it misses a year? Any promoter would be a fool to try to take that market, knowing ROTR will be back.
I hope the mateel doesnt back down.
